WRHSM

Located adjacent to a new serpentine regional transit hub is the Wood River Historical Society Museum. Installed on a visible corner at the western edge of town, this museum houses an astounding collection of photos, artifacts, and ephemera from the history of the town. Displays focus on the growth of the city, its relation to Standard Oil, the social and recreation infrastructure of the town, the pre-history of the region, and the early French and Anglo settlements in the Mississippi Valley. Helpful staff are knowledgeable and can answer any questions one might have about the world's largest swimming pool or the unsung collection of Sears Catalog Homes in the community. This is a small town museum at its best.
